Visiting Artists from Mali at Brown's Rhythm of Change Festival

Three Malian artists - Sali Soumare, Djibril Coulibaly, and Alhassane Sissoko - were awarded visas to participate in the Brown's annual RHYTHM OF CHANGE FESTIVAL after more than 200 students, faculty, alumni, friends, and local politicians petitioned to show their support for the artists and the event. Sali is an unparalleled female dancer, Djibril works in youth arts engagement, and Alhassane is an internationally-recognized djembe master. DO NOT MISS THIS ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY TO STUDY WITH THESE ARTISTS AND SEE THEM PERFORM!

The visitors join an all-star lineup of West African stateside talent, including Seydou Coulibaly, Joh Camara, Moussa Traoré, Sidy Maiga, Solo Sana and Lacina Coulibaly. They are also joined by scholars and activists from Brown, NYU, Tufts, and Yale, who will accompany the arts classes with lectures and workshops on how the arts can be utilized in social change in Africa and the diaspora.

Workshops offered in djembe drumming, doun-doun drumming, dance (traditional & contemporary), song and more.
